Again, thank for your readership and commentary. I’ve long been a believer in retail ownership as they help make for a diversified shareholder base and tend to be more loyal than their institutional counterparts. I agree with you that “old biases do die slowly.”

Gene – thanks for turning the spotlight on a topic that has long baffled me (the resistance to courting the retail community that is, not how do I reach Chris Fetty). I have longed believed the pros to a healthy and supportive retail base far outweigh such perceived negatives as “they require too much hand holding.” With the advanced technology available to IROs – from the vendor you’ve highlighted to others not mentioned above to social media platforms in general, the retail community is more accessible than ever before. I suppose old biases die slowly.

I agree on all the corporate babble, but I think these need to be added:
“Baby” terms like: babymama, babydaddy, baby bump.
Y’all (only acceptable – maybe – if you are actually from below the Mason-Dixon line)
Bro or Bra (as in short for “brother”)
I’ll now leverage my collaborative partnerships to see if we can drill down on this. My goal is to be a thought-leader in this space. I hope we have the bandwidth. If not, I may have to throw someone under the bus…Bro.

After reading your “cocktail napkin” article I checked out Caribou Coffee’s web site. It also has great marketing flare. Thanks for sharing this story, it is great to see innovation like this from a firm that is up against some giants.
